Position Summary:

The Director of Professional Practice and Clinical Support Services will oversee, co-ordinate and prioritize learning needs by identifying organizational and department-specific requirements. The Director will oversee Professional Practice, IPAC, Pharmacy, Inpatient Allied Health, Geriatric Services, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners within the CMC Programs. The Director in this position will work collaboratively with all Managers to ensure development of learning programs that incorporate up to date best practices and evidence-based practices to meet legislative requirements and hospital regulations. The incumbent will ensure the efficient cost-effective utilization of organizational resources within the portfolio. In collaboration with internal programs and community partners, the Director will foster an environment for innovation, change and creativity. Work closely with our community partners to foster a system-wide approach to healthcare experiences and professional development opportunities.



Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

·         Lead with the development and monitoring of infection control practices to ensure compliance meets PIDAC standards, and improvement in patient outcomes. Collaborate with Public Health partners and regional IPAC partners to ensure a system-wide integrated approach to infectious diseases containment.

·         Lead with the development and monitoring of Medication Management and Safe Medication practices, meeting ISMP Standards and Ontario College of Pharmacy (OCP) Standards

·         Develop and/or update policies in collaboration with key stakeholders and expertise related to infection control, Professional Practice, allied health, senior friendly and Medication Management.

·         Oversee and support programs with the Education and Training for Clinical Staff in all areas to ensure Regulated Health Professions Act is adhered to; up to date best practices are aligned with the work we do following evidence-based practices, maintain competencies, and ensure specialized training requirements are in place.

·         Oversee Nursing, allied health and Personal Support Worker orientation specific to duties required to their roles

·         Oversee Patient Safety Committees for IPAC and Antimicrobial Stewardship, Safe Med, and Injury Prevention; monitor Key Performances Indicators and quality improvements to improve the patient experience.

·         Understanding and support for ambulatory care and outreach program model

·         Provide leadership in the development of new services within the clinical programs and ensure that these services are evidence informed and based on best practice guidelines

·         Oversee and provide leadership with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in collaboration with physician partners

·         Provide oversight on third party contracts for Diagnostics Services (Laboratory) and Diagnostic Imaging Services.

·         Create foundation for evidence-based practice in decision making, policy development, competencies, and directives to optimize scope of practice

·         Build and maintain effective, dynamic working relationships within portfolio, with all departments and with key stakeholder partners within the community.

·         Responsible for the preparation of the annual budget related to portfolio.

·         Support and implement strategies that are in compliance with safety practices

·         Identify any health and safety concerns through department/organization and work collaboratively to address any safety concerns reactively and proactively.

·         Develop positive labour relations with union and non-union employees in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressive leadership experience in a healthcare organization - Required

·         Experience working with budgets

·         Demonstrated knowledge of program areas that support patient care

·         Demonstrate an understanding of best practice implementation

·         Strong critical thinking ability and problem-solving skills

·         Professional written and oral communication skills

·         Working familiarity of systems across the continuum care

·         Excellent leadership and coaching skills

·         Ability to delegate multiple tasks with interruptions and high level of stress

·         Analytical and conflict management skills

·         Knowledge of project and fiscal management

·         Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning philosophy



Education and/or Certification:

·         Undergraduate Degree – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)– Required

·         Good Standing with the College of Nurses’ of Ontario – Required

·         Master's Degree – Master of Science in Nursing or Equivalent – Preferred or Willing to Obtain
